Cycle of Abuse

10/4/2016

Like most things, abuse has a cycle. When we recognize the cycles of abuse, only then we can begin to do something about it. Identifying the cycles empowers us to exit the cycle. Abuse has to be addressed in order for the cycle to stop. If the abuse is not addressed, the cycle will gain momentum and intensity. It is not uncommon for individuals that have been in the cycle for a period to time to report that they only experience one or two phases of the cycle, when in reality they experienced all of the cycle but have been in it for a period of time and can no longer separate the phases.
It is important that we clearly educate ourselves on what abuse is so that we can identify the beginning of the cycle and stop it before it continues on any further. If you or someone you know is in the cycle of abuse please tell someone and get help. Anyone can call 1-800-799-SAFE (7233)  24/7 for free and speak with someone with the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
Take care and be sure to check out our other blogs relating to domestic violence...

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

10/3/2016

Hello Everyone,
October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This month has been designated for all of us to focus on domestic violence and to be aware of the signs of domestic violence. This effort to increase awareness is so that we can educate ourselves and others on what domestic violence really is and help to prevent and stop domestic violence. Domestic violence can happen to anyone in any relationship. It does not discriminate based on race, level of education, socio-economic status or even gender. Domestic violence IS all about power and control. Power and control are not part of the equation that love is made of. There are tactics that abusers use to gain power over another person in an effort to control them in a relationship. Please check out or upcoming blogs for more information.

Take good care....
