Got happy?

Often we don't realize that we are, or that we have been happy, until we are unhappy. Does it take loosing happiness to see that you were, at one point, happy? I have met some truly happy people living in truly tragic circumstances, and I have also met some truly unhappy people living in seemingly optimal circumstances. Either person always leaves me wondering...WHY?

There is a commonly held belief that happiness comes from within. So, what does this mean? Happiness from within...That implies, in a very real sense, that our happiness is just that, OURS! The next question would be; what is happiness to you? Is it being at peace, or feeling secure, or not having to look over your shoulder for the reality and consequence of a poorly made decision, or is it being at one with your universe, or...There are probably an infinite amount of definitions, and words to describe the state of being happy. They key is to take inventory of our lives, cut through the bull and distractions, and really look at what happiness is. Once you figure out your source of happiness, than you GUARD, CULTIVATE, and do all within your power to PROMOTE this GIFT!

Again, happiness is within you, and all of us. This is huge, and awesome, and an awesome responsibility. So make it a point to not stand in your own way, and certainly don't let others interfere with your quest! Everyone of us should be constantly evaluating and re-evaluating our lives, and weighing things against the inner truth of our own happiness. It does come from within, and it is ours to find, and, once found, ours to enjoy!
