What is Domestic Violence Counseling?
Utah State has a minimum requirement of 16 hours of Domestic Violence (DV) Counseling for a individual that has completed an evaluation and has been given a recommendation for DV Counseling. This can be done in a group, or sometimes individual setting. The course can be completed in 16 weeks, or condensed to a minimum of 8 weeks, but cannot be completed in short of this minimum time requirement.
Some of the aspects of DV counseling include; healthy communication styles, managing stress, relationship issues, trauma & trauma related issues, goal setting, parenting styles, etc.
We all have a driving force and a "rule book" that we have been either taught, or that we have developed on our own, that guides our conduct. Sometimes taking a step back and examining our life's direction and "rule book" can be a powerful event, and one that can ultimately change our lives, and the Capstone DV Course is designed to do just that!
