How do I know what I need to do for court?
At the time of sentencing the court should have given you an Order of Sentencing with a list of the things that you need to complete.
What if I can't find my court information?
Don't worry if you are not able to find your paperwork, just let the Capstone Staff know and we'll help you locate the information and complete the tasks.
Do I need to complete an evaluation?
You do not always need to complete an evaluation. The court order will typically determine this.
NOTE: If you are calling around and agencies are telling you that you do need to complete an evaluation, check first with the court, or your legal counseling, before committing to submit to one.
What does the court mean when they say I need to complete a Drug & Alcohol Evaluation and then "complete the recommendations"?
When the court orders someone to complete an evaluation and then follow through with the recommendations, they are telling you that this is not an option, and that part of your sentence is to follow through with this and then provide proof of compliance to that court. If you do not follow through with this process the court may hold you in contempt, and could issue a warrant for your arrest.
Where do I need to go to do this?
The court should have given you a list of court approved providers (not all providers are listed on the courts' lists). You should be looking for a "court approved" and "state licensed" provider. ALWAYS ASK the provider if they meet these two requirements.
Capstone Counseling Centers are court approved and state licensed, and we work with courts throughout Utah and the United States.
Do I have to attend treatment through the same place that I completed my evaluation?
You do not always have to attend treatment through the provider that you completed your treatment through, but you may wish to check with the sentencing court or your attorney if you are not certain.
What will the court need as proof that I have completed what they have asked me to do?
Upon completion of the recommended treatment, or court ordered class, a Certificate of Compliance is issued which must be sent to the court along with a Letter of Compliance stating that you have successfully completed the outlined requirements.
Capstone Counseling assists our clients with this process to ensure compliance with the courts.
What are my treatment options?
Treatment, if not already specified by the court, is to be determined through completion of the evaluation. Once you have accepted the "recommended treatment" notice is sent to the court, and your obligation is then to complete all outlined recommendations to be compliant with the court.
How much does treatment cost?
Prices vary between facilities, sometimes dramatically, and can range from $0 to thousands of dollars depending on the level of care needed. It is always wise to find out what the real cost will be before committing to treatment through any agency. Be sure that you can afford the outlined treatment! If you cannot, there are agencies available that have county and state funding, or sliding scales. ASK the agency what is included in the price they are quoting you and make sure that that they are not leaving anything out (i.e. drug testing (UA's), case management costs, further evaluations, etc.).
Capstone Counseling Programs have NO hidden costs!
Can I make payments?
Capstone Counseling accepts payments.
Will my insurance pay for treatment?
It can, but it depends on the agency that you wish to attend. Always ask, and find out what your insurance will and will not pay for before committing to move forward in the process.
Capstone Counseling accepts most insurance carriers.
